Mitchell College is Hiring a Food Truck Supervisor Near London, CT
Michael’s Dairy at Mitchell College is actively seeking an experienced food service supervisor to work at the Ice Cream Shop and Mobile Ice Cream trailer of our 80 year old ice cream shop on the Mitchell College campus. This is a new role and wonderful opportunity for an individual to work closely with the Mitchell College management team and work towards the mission of the Dairy and Mitchell College to connect with the local community and college community. The ideal candidate has experience in food retail (seasonal/ice cream is a plus), food truck operations (trailer driving), basic repair skills, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment (and, oh yeah, loves ice cream too!). The ideal candidate will excel at: supervising people, mobile food service, and creating a unique guest experience.
Responsibilities Include:
- Cash management (balancing, deposits, tip management, etc.)
- Opening/Closing Responsibilities
- Event supervision
- Oversight of all cleaning/equipment usage
- Customer interaction
- Supervision of Scoop-mobile Trailer
- Organization and Cleanliness of all storage areas
- Oversight of backroom equipment
- Cash register use
- Scooping and Customer Service
- Making specialty items as needed (ice cream pies, cookie sandwiches, etc.)
- Regular meetings with Management Team
- Other tasks, as needed
Requirements/Preferences
- One year of food truck experience and two years of food service experience, preferred
- Ability to work 8 hour shifts on your feet
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong financial acumen (experience with Square POS a plus)
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Staff management/training experience
- Ability/experience driving small to medium-sized trailers
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Willingness to submit to a background check upon being offered the position
- Food Safety Certification, preferred
Job Specifics:
- Seven month full-time seasonal position (30-35 hrs./week) – April through October
- Reduced hours in March, November, and December (as needed)
- Reports to: Manager, Auxiliary Business Operations
- Hourly Compensation Tips (when working a service shift)
